Key USAT Rules
- The one-day license fee is $10 per person per event for ages 18 and up.
- The age group of a participant will be determined by age on Dec. 31 of the event year, not by age on race day.
For example:
If you turn 25 years old in July of 2008, you will race and be ranked in the 25-29 age group for the entire 2008 season.
MESP Official Rules

All entry fees are non-refundable and non-transferable to other athletes.
If an athlete/team is unable to attend an event he/she can complete an event deferment form 3 weeks prior to the event. Once an athlete has completed the deferment form, they will automatically be removed from the 2009 database and cannot be added back into the database for any reason.
The deferment form will guarantee the athletes registration in the 2010 event ONLY if they register during the Deferral Entry Week in 2010. All deferred athletes will receive an email prior to registration opening in 2009 with specific instructions on how to register.
Deferred athletes must pay the 2010 early registration entry fee. YouWILL NOT receive a refund nor will your 2009 entry fee be transferred. There is no deferral fee.

NSF Checks: In the case of a bounced check, the event will charge a $25.00 fee for all bounced checks. In addition, checks that are returned prior to the event must be redeemed with cash plus the processing fee. Patrons who do not cover NSF checks or who stop payment on checks will not be allowed to race future events.
- Late fees are determined by the postmark date on the envelope. Late fees must be collected before the entry form can be processed.

Event Sellouts:
In the event of a sell-out, all entries received after the closing date will be automatically returned within 5 business days. Waiting lists will not be established for any events.

Race Policies
A) USAT rules are enforced. If present, USA Triathlon officials will handle protests, and their rulings are final.
B) Number Plates and Race Numbers: Numbers MUST be visible at all times in order for riders to be scored!
C) Registration forms: All registration forms must be complete and legible, be sure to notify MESP if you move or change classes during the season.

Athlete Conduct
All athletes are expected to conduct themselves in a sportsman-like way. MESP reserves the right to refuse future race entry and to disqualify anyone who conducts himself or herself in a way unbecoming of an athlete. Fighting, foul language, cheating and other un-sportsmanlike practices will not be tolerated.

Timing
A) The timing director and the USA Triathlon official will resolve all timing problems. If an official is not present, the timing director will have the final decision on all protests with the consultation of the race director if necessary.
B) All timing problems must be presented within the 15-minute protest period posted. Problems presented after the protest period will not be addressed.
C) Wave Starts: Riders starting in the wrong wave will be disqualified.
D) Results will be posted online the day of the event.
